Brittany Fyler
Intern

Hello there! My name is Brittany Fyler and I am excited to complete my internship at Journeys Toward Healing Counseling Center! Currently, I am a graduate student at Bellevue University working towards a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  I graduated from South Dakota State University with an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education. Originally, I am from South Dakota where I resided until 2021 when I moved to the Mankato area. Since then, I have worked with children from the ages of 1-8 years old in both the school and daycare settings. Most recently, I have worked with children ages 4-5 in the preschool setting as an educator. After completing my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I plan to work towards becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).

I have recently received specialized training and certification in Psychological First Aid. In addition to this training, I have also attended workshops that pertain to Play Therapy. In the future, I intend to attend more workshops to further my development as a therapist and learn more about specific strategies.

My passion is to work with children and families to help facilitate desired change(s) in their lives. I am interested in working with children from various backgrounds, working through and processing traumatic situations, understanding the impact that trauma can have on the individual, and working with families to meet set goals. In my free time I enjoy being on the lake, spending time with family and friends, playing with my dog, and paddleboarding in the summertime.
