Hey! My name is Hannah, and I am an Intern here at Journeys Toward Healing Counseling Center. I am currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Minnesota State University Mankato. In 2019, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Administration and a Bachelor of Art degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Southwest Minnesota State University. Following the completion of my graduate degree in MHC, I plan to work towards becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).
I have been trained in Sand Tray Therapy, Experiential Play Therapy, and Psychological First Aid. I have experience working with children aged 0-6 diagnosed with ASD as a Senior Behavior Tech (RBT), victims of domestic violence through an advocacy program, and individuals with varying abilities and cultures through volunteering and previous roles. I have participated in numerous workshops to further my development as a therapist and as a human. Areas of interest include the impact of trauma on the body and mind; specifically with children and their relationships, sibling relationships when a sibling is diagnosed with any kind of mental disorder (neurodevelopmental, depression, PTSD, etc.), and the administration and scoring of assessments to aid in gaining a holistic view of an individual.
I have a passion for working with children and their families to create effective and long-term change(s). I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for all to be involved in. In addition to therapy, I enjoy listening to music, being around my loved ones, reading, and seeking new opportunities to learn and grow.
